25 Blogging Ideas
Ah, the dreaded writers block. What do we do when we our brain goes for a snooze and we can't for the life of us think what to write about? Well I've compiled a list of some of the quickest and easiest ways to create content, even when your brain is asleep!
1. Ask a friend about a problem they recently had with their computer and write about how other people can solve that problem - 99% of the time a quick google search will reveal to you details on how to solve computer problems.
2. Write about a local celebrity - they will often get googled by local people and the competition is likely to be very low
3. Find a question being asked on Yahoo Answers and answer it on your blog - use references from news sites and Wikipedia to back up your answers and make you look more professional as well as give your article a more authoritative presence
4. Comment on a current news topic that is trending. Digg and Reddit are good for finding hot news topics that people are interested in, so why not give your own opinion. A great example would be to take the recent BP oil spill, taking the angle that BP were doing a good job is bound to get noticed!
5. Use PLR articles for inspiration - these articles are already written and you can just pull out the facts
6. Compile a list of your most visited websites and give a short description of why they are useful.
7. Look at statistics issued by your Government. Most countries offer online statistics which you can use for free to build a report around.
8. Create a list of definitions for your niche - a full glossary of terms which people can refer to time and again, it might even become linkbait.
9. Poll your readers on what topics they want you to write about. With so many free poll creators available, just list some topics and let people tell you want they want you to read.
10. Read a physical magazine related to your niche or visit a magazine website and see what topics they have covered in the past.
11. Visit a forum and find which topics are hot and everyone wants to add their opinion to - then add your own opinion as a post on your blog.
12. Write something that goes against conventional wisdom in your niche and back it up with arguments, it's sure to get people commenting and tell you that you are wrong.
13. Use EzineArticles, hubpages and squidoo to find out what are the most popular articles, and then come up with your own spin or idea on what that article says. This is a bit like using PLR articles, but you don't have the rights to use them without giving proper credit and a link back to their site.
14. Invite readers to guest blog on your blog. Easy content and they usually just ask for a link back to their site.
15. Use the Google search suggestion tool to come up with new topics to write about. Start by typing the name of your niche and let Google suggest 10 hot searches for you!
16. Another Google one: Use Google Trends to find the hot topics that people are searching for right now.
17. Look at your Analytics and see what keywords people used to come to your site and then make sure you have articles related to all those keywords
18. Interview someone from your niche, it doesn't have to be an audio interview, it can be a simple questions and answers interview in plain text. It adds value, is easy to do and people love to hear (or read) personal opinions.
19. Use the Amazon top selling products list to write your own blog post about popular products
20. Write about a product that you bought like your cell phone or new laptop - people love to read about how these products are being used by everyday people
21. Use the trending hash tags on Twitter to find out what people are talking about in real time - is it something stupid (as usual) or something pertinent and relevant?
22. Write about the season and what you love or hate about this time of the year and how it impacts on your life
23. List the most influential sites in your niche and write a description about why they are so useful for your visitors
24. Write about a popular mis-conception in your chosen niche - what does everyone get wrong?
25. Use a well known quote or poem and explain how it has helped you in your life.
These are just 25 ideas I can think of to help you write a blog post, but there are hundreds, if not thousands more ideas. If you can think of some more to add to this list, why not add them in the comments below to create a fantastic resource for others.
